India launched BHIM- UPI in Bhutan to strengthening the bilateral relationship between two Nations
Today’s era is a digital era, India does not want to lag in any way like developed countries, so India is continuously moving towards cashless transactions and promoting cashless transactions with its neighboring countries. And with these continuous efforts, India has launched BHIM- UPI in its neighboring country in Bhutan now this bilateral relationship of both countries has become even stronger. The finance and corporate affairs minister Nirmala Sitaraman along with the finance minister of Bhutan Lyonpo Namgay Tshering jointly launched BHIM- UPI in Bhutan today. Now with the launch of BHIM- UPI in Bhutan the payment structures of the two Nations are seamlessly connected. This service was launched by Finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman at a virtual ceremony in the presence of the minister of state for finance Bhagwat K Karad, financial services secretary Debasish Panda and joint secretary Madnesh Kumar Mishra.
The neighboring country Bhutan’sFinance minister Lyonpo Namgay Tshering, Governor of Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) of Bhutan, Dasho Penjore, Ambassador of Bhutan to India General V Namgyel, Ambassador of India to Bhutan, Ruchira Kamboj were also present during the virtual ceremony.
The national payment corporation of India in linking with BHIM-UPI and Rupay Card with the Bhutanese with ease of online transaction.
During this launch, it is expected that more than 2,00,000 tourists visit Bhutan from India every year now after the launching of this app, the tourist will not face any kind of inconvenience in making the payment. Bhutan will be the only country in India’s neighboring countries that has been approved for both BHIM-UPI and Repay Card. India has promoted an online cashless journey along with its neighboring country Bhutan after successful trials of completely online payment application modes in the country. India’s finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman said it processed 22 billion financial transactions worth Rs 41 lakh crore in the last year 2020-21 when the world was threatened under the pandemic of Corona.
During the pandemic BHIM-UPI has proved to be a successful instrument of payment, people are easily paying through it.
BHIM-UPI is a real instant payment app, this app makes payments very easily without revealing bank details. During the launching of the BHIM-UPI app, India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has purchased organic products from Bhutanese, Bhutanese community has sold fresh farm products to India.
This fulfills commitment made during the Prime minister’s visit to Bhutan in 2019.
