Age Criteria

The recruitment includes posts such as Pointsman-B, Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Assistant (Workshop/Mechanical/Electrical), Assistant Loco Shed, Assistant Operations, and Assistant TL & AC. To apply, candidates must have passed Class 10th (Matriculation) from a recognized board. For some technical posts, an ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT may be required.

The minimum age limit is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 33 years. Age relaxation is available as per government rules, with 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates, and additional relaxation for PwBD candidates.

Fee

The application fee for General, OBC, and EWS candidates is ₹500, out of which ₹400 will be refunded after appearing in the CBT exam. For SC, ST, PwBD, and female candidates, the fee is ₹250, and the full amount will be refunded after appearing in the CBT.

The refund will be credited to the Aadhaar-linked bank account. The selection process includes four stages: Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

Syllabus

The CBT exam will consist of 100 questions for 100 marks, with a duration of 90 minutes. The subjects include Mathematics (25 questions), General Intelligence and Reasoning (30 questions), General Science (25 questions), and General Awareness & Current Affairs (20 questions). There will be negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.

Content Weightage

The mathematics section includes topics like Number System, BODMAS, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration, and basic Algebra and Geometry.

The Reasoning section includes topics such as Analogies, Coding-Decoding, Series, Blood Relations, Direction Test, Syllogism, Venn Diagrams, Puzzle, and Data Interpretation.

General Science questions will be based on the 10th standard level covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

General Awareness will include Indian History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Indian Railways, Government Schemes, Sports, Static GK, and Current Affairs.

Physical Efficiency Test

After qualifying the CBT, candidates must appear for the Physical Efficiency Test. Male candidates must lift and carry 35 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes and run 1000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Female candidates must lift and carry 20 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes and run 1000 meters in 5 minutes 40 seconds.

Salary

The salary for Railway Group D is based on Level 1 of the 7th Pay Commission with a basic pay of ₹18,000 per month. Including DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances, the gross salary may range between ₹22,000 to ₹25,000 per month.

Safe Zone

While applying, candidates must carefully choose their RRB zone. Some zones like Bilaspur, Guwahati, and Bhubaneswar are considered safer options due to relatively lower competition and moderate cut-offs. Kolkata and Ranchi are also balanced options.

On the other hand, zones like Prayagraj, Patna, and Gorakhpur usually have very high competition and higher cut-offs. Candidates should consider factors such as number of vacancies in their category, previous year cut-off trends, location preference, and competition level before selecting a zone.
