SSC CGL New Sliding Mechanism Explained

SSC has introduced a Sliding Mechanism to reduce unfilled vacancies.

Every year many candidates:

Do not attend document verification

Do not join after selection

Leave posts for better opportunities

Because of this around 30-40% vacancies remain empty. To solve this problem, SSC introduced a new system.

Option in SSC CGL

Candidates must choose between Fix and Float during the identity verification stage.

Fix Option

If a candidate selects Fix:

The allocated post becomes final

No upgrade will happen

If the candidate refuses to join later, the seat moves to the next recruitment cycle.

Float Option

If a candidate selects Float:

They allow SSC to upgrade their post if higher preference seats become vacant

Only one sliding round will occur

If upgraded, the candidate must accept the new post

Important rule:

If a candidate refuses the upgraded post, both the previous and upgraded posts will be cancelled.

Identity Verification Requirement

SSC has added a new step before final selection.

Selected candidates must:

Visit SSC Regional Office

Complete Aadhaar authentication

Finish verification within 10 days window

Failure to appear will result in removal from the selection process.
